The VRA Audiometry Control module for MedRx hardware provides a comprehensive tool for pediatric hearing assessments, integrating with the MedRx Studio VRA Module via an iOS application. The iVRA app offers three testing modes: Conditioning, Manual Testing, and Automatic Testing, each designed to facilitate different stages of pediatric audiometry evaluations.

Visual Reinforced Audiometry (VRA) is particularly suited for children aged 6 months to approximately 2-3 years, who are unable to perform traditional pure-tone audiometry. The system employs cartoon videos as visual rewards, aiding in the detection of auditory responses from young children.

Operational Principles:

• Swipe left on a number to present an auditory stimulus.
• Swipe right to display a reward, provided a tone has been presented within the response window(s).
• Swipe up to increase the stimulus level.
• Swipe down to decrease the stimulus level.

Conditioning Mode:

This mode enables visual reward presentation independently of any auditory stimulus. It is primarily used to familiarize the child with the reward system prior to testing. It is important to note that no data are stored during conditioning mode. When using this mode, the visual reward is presented on the last side stimulated; users can change the presentation side as needed.

Manual Mode:

This mode allows for operator-controlled testing where levels, frequency, and ear selection are adjustable. Catch trials remain active in this mode. Double-tapping a number saves the threshold value, which is then stored within the Studio log files upon saving. Users must explicitly save data to ensure thresholds are transferred into the Studio database.

Automatic Mode:

This mode offers automated testing by selecting the frequency and starting level. Once a tone is presented at a specific frequency, the system automatically adjusts the level until a threshold response is identified. The process continues across selected frequencies until testing is complete. All recorded data are stored in the Studio log files and require saving for transfer into the Studio system.
